Article of the Day: Volvo's Long-Term Plans

Five years after being purchased by Geely, Volvo is on its way to eliminating all remnants of previous owner Ford. The company recently announced its second Volvo-designed modular platform, and that it is fully embracing hybrid and electric powertrains. Michael Fleiss, Volvo's VP of powertrain R&D has stated "All future Volvo products can and will be electrified." Modular architecture is an interesting development, able to produce several different models with the same basic drivetrain, cutting down on production costs. Volvo seems to be fully committed to hybrid and electric technology, expecting that by early 2020, at least 10% of its overall production will be plug-in hybrids. Tell us in the comment section below, and please read the full article, as it has a lot more interesting facts and technical specifications then this summary.
