Article of the Day: Distracted Driving

A new study has suggested that using the voice control system in a vehicle could be as distracting as using a phone during driving. When using a voice-activated system, research shows that drivers' attention stays on the system for about 15 seconds after use for the least complex systems, and nearly double for the most complex. Just because a driver has their hands on the wheel doesn't mean they'll keep their minds on the road. According to University of Utah neuroscientist David Strayer, using a voice-operated system is the mental equivalent of 'balancing a checkbook while driving'.
