Article of the Day: NHTSA Struggles to contain Car-Hacking Threat

Though it seems fairly futuristic and far-fetched, the threat of car-hacking is a valid one. And the under-staffed and under-budgeted National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is struggling to contain. They have said that they would 'get out ahead of potential cyber-security issues on vehicles', after an incident in July where researchers hacked and drove a Jeep from across the country. They have apparently had as many as 80k complaints about auto-motive cyber security so far, and only 8 people to handle them. Going through all the code from the afflicted cars and making sure security is as tight as can be will take them a while. They have repeatedly asked for more funding to help curb this futuristic, but real, threat. What do you think about automotive hacking, do you think it'll be a big issue?
