Article of the Day: Milan Banning Cars

Milan, Italy has started to ban cars and motorcycles from the city center for the first 3 days of the week because of excessive air pollution. This is not the first time that Milan has had to do this, as they are in a valley and as such certain weather patterns get congested there, as well as the fact that there hasn't been any rain for 7 weeks and little wind to push the pollution away for the last 50 days. From 10am to 4pm until Wednesday, December 30th, the city center is a no-go for most motorized transport. Rome is in much the same position, as it has banned most vehicles in the city's green zone for 9 hours on Monday, and again 9 hours on Tuesday based on license plate number. These cities are trying to get people to embrace public transportation, to alleviate the pollution problem. Italy, and Milan in particular, is one of the worst in the region for pollution issues. What do you think of this, and other cities, banning cars due to climate change/pollution issues?
