DieselGate Special Report: A Long Time Coming

After news of Prof. Winterkorn's resignation as CEO, Volkswagen still stresses that he had no knowledge of the scam now known as DieselGate. But according to German Economy Minister Sigmar Gabriel,that might be true. He alleges that the decision to install the 'defeat devices' in the current line of TDI Diesel cars (And maybe other Diesel cars, as news develops), was made before he moved from the head of Audi to Volkswagen, in 2007 as evidenced in theis quote from a Reuters interview “I have great respect for his decision. He is taking responsibility for something that happened when he was not chief executive of Volkswagen but rather at Audi,”. So, this has been in the works for a while, since the only cars (so far) affected are from 2009. Just to show how long in the making this scam has been. What do you think of Dieselgate?
